The US nursing home regulations have a strong emphasis on Quality of Life, and the federal agency responsible for nursing homes, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has shown strong support for the innovations of the culture change movement. The main issue has been supporting residents of nursing homes to have more autonomy while maintaining their safety. In addition, nursing homes must comply with state regulations as well as the fire and building codes. The key to progress is to get everyone talking together.
